Maryanne Amacher (USA, 1943) specializes in huge site-specific installations,
starting with "City Links" (1967), a 28-hour installation that consisted of
five microphones deployed in different parts of the city (Buffalo), to
the sonic sculpture "Teo" (2005).
Sound Characters (Tzadik, 1999) collects some of her music.
Several of her droning pieces are meant to elicit music inside the brain ("third ear music"). Others are colossal drones that are the equivalent of science-fiction monsters in a post-apocalyptic landscape.
