Terrorism is winning.
There are two indicators of how much the USA has failed in its "war on
terrorism".
The first one is simple statistics: has the number of suicide bombings gone
down or up? The numbers are astonishing in their clarity: dramatically up.
(See this graph). Since 2001 (when Bush proudly declared war on terrorism), the number
of suicide bombings has gone up from less than 10 to more than 300. The number
of people killed in terrorist attacks has increased from a little over 3,000
to more than 12,000.
The second indicator is how much support this "war" gets in the countries
where it is fought. There isn't a single Islamic country in which Bush is more
popular than Osama bin Laden except Afghanistan. In nearby Pakistan people
would three times more likely to vote for Osama bin Laden than for George W Bush.

There are precious few countries of the world in which Bush would beat Osama
bin Laden in a fair election.
