Il "pop-metal" degli anni Novanta e` stato soprattutto rappresentato dai Warrant di Jani Lane, ultima delle attrazioni del circo heavymetal di Los Angeles: il gruppo confeziona inni per ragazzine in calore, sotto forma tanto di hardrock melodico (Down Boys del 1989, Uncle Tom's Cabin del 1990, Machine Gun del 1992), quanto di ballata romantica (Heaven del 1989, I Saw Red e Blind Faith del 1990). I Warrant hanno forse coniato la forma definitiva dell'heavymetal da classifica, trasformando il genere di strada per eccellenza in un genere domestico, le sue orge di "staccato" in feste di stereotipi per adolescenti di buona famiglia.
