Tara Burke is a
Philadelphia singer-songwriter who uses the moniker Fursaxa. She belongs
to the vast army of psychedelic folk music, but occasionally she does
resurrect the specter of Nico's arcane lullabies.
Like all prolific artists this side of Beethoven, though, her albums tend to
contain too much amateurish fluff.
She released:
Mandrake (Acid Mothers Temple, 2000 - Eclipse, 2004), her archetypical
set of hymns for keyboards, dulcimer, guitar and voice,
Trobairitz Are Here From Venus (2002),
Fursaxa (Ecstatic Peace, 2002), 19 brief vignettes for multi-tracked vocals, acoustic guitars and keyboards,
The Cult From Moon Mountain (2003),
Madrigals in Duos (Time-Lag, 2004),
Amulet (Last Visable Dog, 2005), finally an ambitious work (four extended pieces),
Lepidoptera (All Tomorrows Parties, 2005), one of her best,
Alone in the Dark Wood (Eclipse, 2006 - All Tomorrow's Parties, 2007).
Myriad of Satyrids (2006),
Kobold Moon (2008), another career peak featuring the 12-minute Cornus of Florida,
etc.
