(hed) PE (1997) introduced Planet Earth, yet another Los Angeles-based rap-metal band (a sextet of two guitars, vocals, drums, bass, turntables). Serpent Boy, the standout track, would have been hardly noticed on a Korn album. Broke (Zomba, 2000) yielded the hit Bartender Blackout (Jive, 2003) is an impressive catalog of stereotypes, from the grossly infectious Blackout to the frantic Flesh And Bone from the grindcore spasm of Bury Me to the syncopated boogie of Dangerous. The highlight is the fusion of soul, reggae and pop in the power-ballad Get Away, and a close second is the country-gospel-funk of Other Side.
