Protest The Hero coined an original and technical form of
progressive metalcore
on the Kafkian concept album Kezia (2006),
an album of unbridled spontaneity,
and on the more technical Fortress (Vagrant, 2008).
The combination of nasal post-emo vocalist Rody Walker, Atreyu-style
guitarists Tim Millar and Luke Hoskin, jazzy bassist Arif Mirabdolbaghi and
drummer Moe Carlson was deadly.
