Detroit's techno producer Terrence Dixon, a pupil of Juan Atkins, crafted the diligent Unknown Black Shapes (1994) under the moniker Population One but found his true voice on the EP Bionic Man (1998) and the full-length From The Far Future (Tresor, 2000), introduced by the swinging and ghostly Running Time. After a long hiatus, he resurfaced with the oneiric and Caribbean Detroit City Lights (2006), the double-EP Train Of Thought (2007), notably the whirling syncopated Relent, and the full-length From The Far Future Part 2 (Tresor, 2012), that contains at least four of his boldest compositions: the industrial nightmare Dark City Of Hope, the suspenseful aquatic The Study, the bubbling subliminal musique concrete of Vision Blurry and especially the frenzied neurotic cosmic orgy of The Auto Factory.
