One of the early minimalists, Jon Gibson (Los Angeles, 1940) is more famous as a performer than as a composer.
Visitation (Chatam Square, 1973) inaugurated his explorations at the
border between musique concrete and biological music.
The CD reissue adds Thirties (1972).
Two Solo Pieces (Chatham Square, 1977) contains
Cycles (1973) for pipe organ and
Untitled (1974) for flute.
Gibson has also composed several music for dance companies, including
Stalling Into Elation (1998) and several evening-long scores.
Criss X Cross (Tzadik, 2006) documents a 1979 concert for solo saxophone
and flute.
Gibson died in 2020.
