Bakhtyar Khudojnazarov filmed in black and white Bratan/ The Little Brother (1991), starring nonprofessional actors.
He then made the comedy Luna Papa (1999), inspired by Fellini’s Amarcord, an international coproduction shot by four cinematographers, and the first installment of his Central Asia trilogy. Shik/ The Suit (2003) is an adaption of Ray Bradbury's 1958 story "The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit". His Central Asia trilogy concluded with V Ozhidanii Morya/ Waiting for the Sea (2012), another international coproduction. (The second part of the trilogy was never completed).
