The Relativity of Truth

  • Humans argue and fight over what is true and what is not true. No other animal species has this problem. Their senses quickly tell them what is true, and they all react similarly.
  • Humans have an extra sense that prevails over the others: the reasoning part of the brain. That causes humans to question the veracity of sensory inputs. That causes humans to assemble truths that are not directly related to the senses. That causes a multiplicity of views and the conflicts that follow.
  • Members of other animal species fight over resources (food, land, sex), but not over truth.
  • The protracted and colossal warfare of human civilization is a consequence of the relativity of truth
