Detroit's Death, fronted by David Hackney,
predated punk-rock and even agit-prop hardcore with the
unreleased mini-album For The Whole World To See (1975),
whose songs bridged the generation of
MC5 and the generation of the
Laughing Hyenas.
The band folded after the anthemic single
Politicians in My Eyes (Tryangle, 1976).
Spiritual Mental Physical (Drag City, 2011) collects more unreleased
recordings of the mid 1970s, but this time they are wildly inferior.
David Hackney died of lung cancer in 2000.
