Federico Fiumani's Diaframma were inspired by the
lugubrious melodies and ominous arrangements of Joy Division
for the singles
Pioggia (1982), Circuito Chiuso (1982), Altrove (1983),
and especially the album Siberia (IRA, 1984), a cycle of
melancholy lyrical psychodrama in the best tradition of Italian romantic poetry.
Tre Volte Lacrime (1986) was a bit warmer and subsequent albums
were increasingly mainstream.
Later albums were mixed bags, with
Anni Luce and Il Ritorno dei Desideri (1994) still capable
of moving, but most of the others simply outdated and predictable.

I Diaframma di Federico Fiumani erano ispirati dalle lugubri melodie e arrangiamenti dei Joy Division con i singoli Pioggia (1982), Circuito Chiuso (1982), Altrove (1983), e in particolare l'album Siberia (IRA, 1984), con testi malinconici e drammatici nella migliore tradizione della poesia romantica italiana.
Con il successivo Tre Volte Lacrime (1986) e i lavori successivi le atmosfere si fanno sempre meno oscure ed oppressive.
Gli ultimi albums, come Anni Luce, Il Ritorno dei Desideri (1994) ed altri successivi, sebbene interessanti, mostrano una certa prevedibilita' e appaiono un po' datati.
