Il trio, musicalmente parlando, adottava il vecchio schema del punkrock: melodie orecchiabili e armonie aggressive al massimo. Una serie di singoli (per la K Records, la Four Letter Words e quello del 1992 per la Homestead con Kiss And Ride e No You don't) e l'album Pottymouth (Kill Rock Stars, 1993), che alterna inni ringhiosi come Bitch Theme, Stab e Fuck Yer Fans a vignette post-femministe ispirate dalle Raincoats come Panik e Juswanna, le imposero all'attenzione dei punk, mentre la rivista "Sassy" ne fece degli idoli per le ragazzine. In realta` le Bratmobile suonavano garage-rock anni '60 aggiornato nei testi alle istanze degli anni '90 e nello stile alla prassi amatoriale dei college.

La title-track, Brat Girl e Yeah Huh dell'EP The Real Janelle le hanno invece consacrate fra i gruppi punk maturi per le classifiche.

Bratmobile drummer Molly Neuman played with the Frumpies and then formed the Peeches with singer Christopher Appelgren. The band debuted with the EP Cup Of Glory (Kill Rock Stars, 1995), containing the catchy punk-pop of Fine Watch, and continued releasing singles that will be collected on Life (Kill Rock Stars, 1999). The only album, Do The Math (Kill Rock Stars, 1996), is an honest piece of punk-rock slab but nothing that hasn't be heard countless times in the 1980s (Gun Club, Germs).

The Bratmobile reunited in 1999 and recorded Ladies Women And Girls (Lookout, 2000), an album that is as good as the early ones (an even better produced) but simply lacks a reason to exist in the year 2000 (Cheap Trick Record, In Love With All My Lovers).

Despite the addition of keyboards and a slick production, the second album after the reunion, Girls Get Busy (Lookout, 2002), marks the departure of Bratmobile from the ranks of the riot-grrrrl movement (or, for that matter, of punk-rock). I'm With the Band and That's Happening are conventional power-pop.

Smith e Wolfe proseguirono con la formazione delle Cold Cold Hearts (Kill Rock Stars, 1997). Con la stessa formula di velenoso punk e dilettantismo lo-fi, il singolo Yer So Sweet,la frenetica Broken Teeth e l'orecchiabile Cute Boy Discount ci ricordano le Bratmobile nell'agit-prop rock ma meno nell'attitudine.

Molly Neunman batterista delle Bratmobile suono' prima con le Frumpies e dopo formo' i Peeches con il cantante Christopher Applegren. La band debutta con Cup of glory (su Kill Rock Stars,1995), contenente l'orecchiabile punk-pop di Fine Watch, e continuando a realizzare singoli raccolti su Life (kill rock stars, 1999). L'unico album, Do the Match (Kill Rock Stars, 1996), Š un onesto/sincero esempio di puro punk-rock, ma niente che non sia gia' stato ascoltato infinite volte negli '80 (Gun Club, Germs).

Le Bratmobile si riunirono registrando Ladies Women and Girls nel 1999 (Lookout, 2000), un album buono quanto i precedenti ( e con una migliore produzione)la quale ragione di esistere nel 2000 Š la mancanza del vecchio garage-surf degli anni delle riot-grrl (Cheap Trick Records,In Love with All My Lovers).

Nonostante l'aggiunta della tastiere e una brillante produzione, il secondo album dopo la riunione, Girls Get busy (Lookout, 2002), segna l'allontanamento delle Bratmobile dai luoghi del movimento delle riot-grrrl ( o comunque dai contenuti punk rock). I'm in the band e That's happening non sono altro che convenzionale power-pop
