A master of the "Chapman Stick" (a guitar-like string instrument) and many
other odd instruments, Texas-born guitarist Trey Gunn has been playing with King Crimson
since the mid 1990s.
His own band performs geometric fusion jams and surrounds his virtuoso shows
with odd meters:
Raw Power (First World, 1989),
One Thousand Years (Discipline, 1993),
The Third Star (Discipline, 1996),
Joy of Molybdenum (Discipline, 2000).
Live Encounter (First World, 2001) is a project for
three guitarists and a percussionist.
Gunn has also recorded two cassettes of trancey music:
Food for Thought (Subliminal, 1983) and
Playing with Borrowed Time (Subliminal, 1985).
