Psyclone Rangers are a wild bunch from Pennsylvania led by
vocalist Jonathan Valania and guitarist Scott Dantzer.
Their postures, halfway between
freaks a` la
Butthole Surfers
and
cowpunks a` la
Gun Club,
are wed to twisted, psychotic punk-rock a` la Stooges on
Feel Nice (World Domination, 1993).
Despite the sound and the fury of
Tilt-A-Whirl, Mono Town and Deal, the second album,
The Devil May Care (World Domination, 1995), relents the tension and
lets melody (Ain't Goin' Down) and down-home humour
(Why The Hell Did I Die) prevail.
The EP Beatin' On The Bat Pole (World Domination, 1996) delivered
the last salvo, from the garage-surfing Fuel City to the
ZZ Top boogieing Tim Are You Home.
