Sweden's death-metal was tamed by At The Gates, that introduced Iron Maiden-influenced melodic elements into
The Red In The Sky Is Ours (Peaceville, 1993)
and With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness (1993), as well as into
the elegantly arranged mini-album
Terminal Spirit Desease (1994), with Forever Blind and The Swarm.
They reached an artistic peak on
Slaughter Of The Soul (1995), produced by Fredrik Nordstrom, a classic of
catchy death-metal,
with the epic riff of
Blinded by Fear,
the acoustic Into the Dead Sky,
and engaging songs like
Suicide Nation and Slaughter of the Soul;
but then they disbanded.
They reformed a decade later and released the live album
Purgatory Unleashed (2010) followed by
At War With Reality (2014) and
To Drink From the Night Itself (2018).
