After the tentative and fragmented Portage (Zulu Records),
Vancouver's
Beans,
a quintet with trumpet and accordion,
experimented with subtle post-rock dynamics on
the 40-minute mini-album Tired Snow (Zum, 2000),
and especially on Crane Wars (Zum, 2001),
that featured home-made instruments, turntables and electronics.
After the live Inner Cosmosis (Foreverbad, 2002), they achieved another
artistic peak with
the four lengthy suites of Bassplayer (Intr.version, 2004) for a large number of electronic, electric and acoustic instruments.
