Huggy Bear were pillars of the British "riot grrrl" scene, although they often seemed more like a parody of their American comrades. They were the creation of two men, singer Chris Rowley and guitarist John Slade. The three girls and their feminist attitude were more marketing gimmicks than anything else.
The EPs Rubbing The Impossible To Burst (Wiiija, 1992), Kiss Curl For The Kid's Lib Guerrillas (Wiiija, 1992), with Carnt Kiss and Sizzlemeet, Herjazz (Wiiija, 1993), and Don't Die (Wiiija, 1993), with Pansy Twist, were collected on Taking The Rough With The Smooch (Wiiija, 1993). The group didn't try to make themselves heard for their musical qualities, but for the vulgarity of their language.
The EPs Long Distance Lovers (Gravity, 1994) and Main Squeeze (Kill Rock Stars, 1995) confirmed the banality of their operation.Weaponry Listens To Love (Wiiija, 1995) reintroduced them in a more sincere guise as descendants of Crass.
From one of their ribs Blood Sausage, equally vague and unresolved, would be born.

sono sembrati piu` che altro una parodistica imitazione delle loro
compagne americane. Gli Huggy Bear furono l'invenzione di
due maschi, il cantante Chris Rowley e il chitarrista John Slade.
Le tre ragazze e il piglio femminista furono
piu` che altro trovate marketing.
