Solstice were champions of England's doom metal.
Lamentations (1994), featuring vocalist Simon Matravers, was a relatively
stereotyped work, but the epic riffs of
New Dark Age (Misanthropy, 1998 - Cyclone Empire, 2007), with new
vocalist Morris Ingram,
mixed with Celtic influences
(Cimmerian Codex)
and medieval instruments (Alchemiculte)
created a whole new language of epic doom, best represented by
Hammer of Damnation, Blackthorne, Cromlech.
