Absurd Minds, the German duo of vocalist Stefan Grossmann and keyboardist
Tilo Ladwig, played atmospheric electronic music that bordered on industrial dance and synth-pop, notably on the
six-song EP Planetary Empire (1996), that contains Absurd.
They refined their melodic and orchestral style on Deception (2000),
with an impressive sequence of catchy and ominous songs like
Brainwash,
Restrictive Delusion,
Deception and
Fairy Stories.
Venture Inward is stately and almost military.
I am Dying Alone is both more aggressive and more melancholic.
There is variety but all the songs contribute to create a suffocating mood.
They incorporated drummer Timo Fischer for their most commercial phase:
Damn The Lie (2001) includes Creators, Septic and Damn The Lie, songs with a louder beat;
The Focus (2003) contains Self Imposed, The Question
and especially Herzlos;
and Noumenon (2005) still has Gedankenreich.
Revived (2005) is a career retrospective and
The Cycle (2006) was simply a teaser with several versions of Cycle and some leftovers.
The trio reformed and released Serve Or Suffer (2010) and then again for
Tempus Fugit (2017) and Sapta (2020).
