Hungary-based producer Antendex (Tamas Olejnik), who had released singles
and EPs since 2007,
crafted instrumental Brian Eno-esque vignettes
on Photons (Mille Plateaux, 2010).
Not quite dance music per se, they range from the
mellow bouncing electronica of Quanta to the
abstract soundpainting of Wave, from the
ambient music for reverbs of Emission to the
agonizing droning music of Nanokrion,
occasionally evoking Terry Riley's minimalist symphonies in Amino
or Gordon Mumma's massive wall of noise in
Nemonoix.
There is, however, too little development and pathos. Most pieces are
repetitive and dry. Antendex sets them in motion but then fails to breathe
life into them.
