Utah's band Gaza, fronted by Jon Parkin,
played a darker and vicious version of Converge's metalcore with
guttural distorted vocals on
I Don't Care Where I Go When I Die (2006)
and He Is Never Coming Back (2009), while
No Absolutes in Human Suffering (2012) watered down the music with
influences from sludge metal.
Gaza's trio of Michael Mason (guitar),
Casey Hansen (drums) and
Anthony Lucero (bass) formed Cult Leader that released
Lightless Walk (2015) and
A Patient Man (2018).
