Philadelphia-based producer and MC Jneiro Jarel (born Omar Gilyard) added a new dimension to the fusion of jazz and hip-hop music with the digital collage of Three Piece Puzzle (2005).
The 21 songs are sometimes influenced by
J Dilla's productions
the chaotic, warped, spaced-out jazz-hop of Big Bounce Theory
the somnolent word-less lounge soundscape of Soul Starr
subliminal oneiric ambient post-hop of Won't Let You Go (No, No, No)
Unorthodox moments of creativity yield
the robotic choral rigmarole of Black Cinderella,
the poppy and rocking Stranger They Come,
and
the surreal electronic vignette Here Comes the Son.
He is less engaging when he tries to emulate fashionable rappers, like he does
in the sleepy and monotonous Get Yuh Own,
and in the whispered and melodic It's Like Fire Yo!!.
The album is also littered with the Brazilian-tinged frenzy of Sun Walkers, Lemme See Yuh!, Jneirieireooo!!!!!, etc.
The album is too long and contains too much filler.
Georgiavania (2009), credited to Willie Isz, was a collaboration with
Khujo Goodie.
The Brazilian leitmotif continued on
Fauna (2010), an album of instrumental hip hop,
the eight-song EP Android Love Mayhem (2010),
the five-song EP Flora (2014),
the album Beyond 2morrow (2014),
the five-song EP Microclimate (2018)
and
the album After a Thousand Years (2020).
