Silentist
(Oregon-based Alaskan native pianist Mark-Evan Burden, former organist for Get Hustle and drummer for Glass Candy)
concoted an insane hybrid of classical music, jazz and death-metal on
the EPs
Nightingales (Celestial Gang, 2004), his ferocious debut,
Chariot Swing (Celestial Gang, 2006), the starker and more atmospheric follow-up,
House On The Hill (Celestial Gang, 2006), that added vocalist August Alston to the project,
and on the album Silentist (Celestial Gang, 2008).
He generally set austere piano patterns to jazzy atmospheres
and death-metal blastbeats.
Burden also recorded solo piano music and electroacoustic music for piano and electronics.
