New York's White Rabbits, fronted by Greg Roberts and Stephen Patterson,
harked back to the ska-pop of Fun Boy Three for the
catchy dance-pop ditties of
Fort Nightly (2007).
The (poly)rhythm is at the forefront of It's Frightening (2009), and often
reinforced by the non-rhythmic instruments, while piano and bass lead the
melodies more often than the guitar
(Percussion Gun, Lionesse, Right Where They Left).
The simpler songs (Rudie Fails, Midnight and I ) evoke dance-rock
of the 1980s (Clash, Cars and the likes).
