The Zutons, a Liverpool-based quintet fronted by vocalist-guitarist David McCabe and lead guitarist Boyan Chowdhury and featuring a saxophonist, sounded like a folkier kind of the Animals, less bluesy and more attuned to the sugary choruses of Merseybeat, via the pub-rock of the late 1970s (Joe Jackson, Nick Lowe, Graham Parker, etc). The lively and entertaining Who Killed The Zutons (2004) was followed by the single Don't Ever Think, that heralded a more commercial approach. Tired Of Hanging Around (2006) turned them into stars, thanks to the hit Valerie (reminiscent of Tears for Fears' Everybody Wants to Rule the World). You Can Do Anything (2008), the first album without guitarist Boyan Chowdbury, was not any different, but the British press had already found several new "next big things" to write about.
