The Belgian mixed-race duo of Charlotte Adigery (of Caribbean descent) and Bolis Pupul (born Boris Zeebroek to a Chinese mother and a Belgian father) started out with three EPs:
the four-song EP Charlotte Adigery (2017), with the
slim and smooth, and slightly-glitchy, Afro-synth-pop of
1,618 and the bouncing and bubbling electronic ballet
Le Froid;
the five-song EP Zandoli (2019), with the hypnotic and propulsive
Patenipat, the minimalist ditty High Lights and
the cabarettish BBC;
and Yin Yang Self-Meditation (2019), which contains a 17-minute spoken-word confession, a stream of consciousness over an eerie subliminal soundscape (for which there also was a video counterpart).
Adigery sings in English, Dutch, Creole and French on
the album Topical Dancer (2022), tackling themes of sexism and racism over syncopated dance beats (Esperanto, It Hit Me).
There are also catchy rigmaroles (Blenda) but the standout is a
creative industrial skit of chopped-up vocals titled HAHA.
