New York's neo-soul singer-songwriter Yaya Bey debuted with the
ten-song multimedia mini-album The Many Alter-Egos of Trill'eta Brown (2016), followed by the eight-song EP This too (2019) and by a collection
of very brief sketches, Madison Tapes (2020).
Following the EP The Things I Can't Take (2021), she delivered her first
professional album,
Remember Your North Star (2022), a collection of
somnolent
Burt Bacharach-esque pop-soul ballads
with plenty of jazzy, Caribbean and noisy intermezzos.
Rolling Stoner is the emotional nadir, and dreamy and jazzy Street Fighter Blues
the unlikely musical zenith.
