Indiana's
Hail Architeuthis! debuted with
the horror-liturgical drones of the
EP Hail Architeuthis (Auris Apothecary, 2009), but their first full-length,
Herald The Harbinger Of Impending Acoustics, The Horseman Who Revived Organic Institutions (Auris Apothecary, 2010),
was rather inspired by
prog-metal and post-rock.
The nine-minute instrumental Psalms Rejoicing The Salt-Water Grave begins with
a thundering section of hamming somewhere between
Yes and death-metal, then plunges into an almost
silent nervous breakdown and then soars with feverishly strummed guitars.
On one hand they unleash the strident guitar noise of Impending Thunderous Roar
and on the other they exale the anthemic vocals of Recitations Of Notable Seismograph Etchings.
