Los Angeles' band Joyce Manor, fronted by Barry Johnson, debuted with
Joyce Manor (2011), an album of
brief songs that winked at both emocore and punk-pop with rousing vocals
that evoked pub-rock of the late 1970s in Constant Headache and
Leather Jacket.
After the disappointing, Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired (2012)
the 20-minute Never Hungover Again (2014) offered at least
the romantic Christmas Card, the agonizing Falling in Love Again and the restless Heart Tattoo.
Cody (2016), with the
Nirvana-esque grunge-pop of Last You Heard Of Me,
and
Million Dollars to Kill Me (2018)
were mediocre.
The demented rigmarole House Warning Party (2020) came out as a single.
