Virginia's country singer Morgan Wade debuted with
Puppets With My Heart (2018), credited to
Morgan Wade & The Stepbrothers, but rose to prominence with
her second album Reckless (2021), which deviates significantly from
the Nashville standard with
shamelessly poppy songs like Reckless and Last Cigarette,
the power-ballad Wilder Days, some
country-rock (Northern Air)
and especially the stately folk-rock of Don't Cry.
The single Matches and Metaphors is a much more conventional ballad.
