Wobbly was originally the name of a radio program run in Santa Barbara by Jon Leidecker. It also became his musical moniker when, relocated to San Francisco, he turned to composing Negativland-style sound collages. He collaborated with both Matmos and Negativland. He also recorded albums with new-age composer Tim Story and with Dieter Moebius of Cluster.

Jon Leidecker joined flutist and vocalist MaryClare Brzytwa, a member of the all-female free-improvisation trio Slow Children, who had debuted solo with Stairwells (2011), and created the project Amen Seat which debuted with Amen Seat (2023). The songs belong to a genre of quirky glitch-dance music that sometimes sounds like Solex fronting the Flying Lizards and sometimes like the Art Bears augmented with Tim Hecker. Bright Colors includes a folk fanfare, Plague Time rests an operatic aria over clockwork beat and wobbling synth, the absurdist polka Obligatory has Drew Daniel of Matmos on percussion, and Pleasure flirts with psychedelic overtones. There are also abstract free-form dadaist sketches like Surface, Argue Back (Zeena Parkins on harp) and The Broadcast.
